Services continue on Facebook at Shepherd of the Hill! We do a livestream at 10:30 a.m. Sunday as per usual. All are welcome! We are open and affirming. • Jesus Gives Counter-Cultural Advice. In today's reading, Jesus says that you should throw a party, a big feast, but not invite Anyone who can pay you back. Throw a dinner party that does not include your work buddies, or family and friends, because they will just invite you over to Their house. (Of Course they will, we think. That's how it works, That's the idea, innit?) But Nope. Jesus, the contrarian social director says, "Invite the poor, the lame, the halt and the blind. People who Don't Have Jack. Exactly Because they can't pay you back. Sounds UN-American. Donnit? Jesus had lots of un-American advice like this. Give robbery victims free health care. Forgive people who have wasted their money and gone broke. Leave your good job and go try and do some good in the world, living on handouts and the kindness of strangers. He's full of aspirational advice about how we can find ways to create meaning in our lives, instead of trying to find meaning in the hamster wheel of material acquisition. How do we find balance? One step at a time. • Join us on our Facebook page, Shepherd of the Hill Church, on Sunday at 10:30am for our livestream service. • Shepherd of the Hill Church of Chaska 145 Engler Blvd. Chaska, MN 55318 952-448-3882 chaskachurch.org Facebook: Shepherd of the Hill Church Instagram: @shepherd.chaska YouTube: search Shepherd of the Hill Presbyterian Church, or click the link in our bio.
